Looking for any relatives of ELIZABETH DAVIS, who is buried near a small white church in
Tetersburg, Indiana (Clinton County). She was married to Ellsworth PUCKETT, and had 5 kids-Stella Mae (Puckett) Reading, Ora
N. Puckett, Amelia Jane (Puckett) Pickett, Anna Loraine (Puckett)
Egolf, and Effie Louise (Puckett) Hancock. Elizabeth had many
siblings, including-Omer (10/3/1857-?), Sara (6/30/1859-?),
Hester (3/21/1861-?), Mary (12/29/1862-?), James (12/29/1865-?),
John (7/28/1868-11/18/1868), Anna Nora (11/22/1871-1/13/1957),
Rebecca (11/3/1873-3/27/1902), and Elihe (10/9/1878-6/28/1890). I
am unclear if Henry (9/25/1834-3/14/1896) and Bethana
(10/12/1835-4/13/1895) are parents to Elizabeth and her siblings,
or if they are siblings all together. (Note age descrepencies
between Henry and Bethana to other kids.)
This info came from a photocopy of a page from a family bible.
(Photocopy is lost. Bible may have burnt in a house fire in 1975
in Tipton.
Elizabeth died young from Cancer as did her daughter, Anna
Lorraine. May be a family history of cancer, as well as diabetes
and overweightness. Family legend is that Davis/Puckett
descendents were quite feisty, and loved to argue, just for the
sake of it. They could be stubborn, hard headded, and sometimes
downright "in-your-face." Good family, though, and
loyal.
ELIZABETH DAVIS' dates are (3/11/1869-1/12/1908).

I am interested in exchanging info with anyone researching the
names of RIPPEY or GASKILL in Clinton Co, IN. My ancestor John
RIPPEY (1771-1831) married Joanna LINDLEY (1780-1844) in 1807 in
Warren Co, OH. They had children: Elizabeth 1810, Abigail 1812,
Nancy 1814, Joanna 1816, John 1818, Zenas 1821, and Matthew
(1824) RIPPEY all born in Warren Co, OH. After the father John
died in 1831, Joanna came with her children to Clinton Co, IN
where she entered land in her own name in 1836 in what is now
Center Township. Her son John RIPPEY also entered land at that
time. Her 2 oldest daughters Elizabeth and Abigail married
GASKILL brothers William and John Wesley GASKILL in Ohio, and
Nancy married Abel WILLIAMS there in 1832. The daughter Joanna
married James SMITH in Clinton Co, IN in 1836. John married
Elizabeth HARLEY in 1840, Zenas married Mary A. Hart in 1854 and
the youngest, Matthew, married in Ohio in 1853 to Barbara Ann
BUTT. The mother Joanna LINDLEY RIPPEY died 7 Aug 1844 and was
buried at Layton Cemetery east of Frankfort. I have visited the
cemetery which is in a complete state of ruin, bur did find her
grave along with several of her children. I am descended from her
youngest son Matthew RIPPEY who later settled in Moultrie Co, IL
along with his brother John RIPPEY and his family. The other
children stayed in the Clinton Co area. I would be interested in
finding anyone descended from William and Elizabeth RIPPEY
GASKILL, John Wesley and Abigail RIPPEY GASKILL, and Abel and

I am doing research on the following 2 families in Clinton
County: ORR - My GG Grandfather, Mathew Orr, lived in Johnson
Township, just to the north of Scirclesville. It was on the north
side of the railroad. I know that he donated land for the first
area school, and was on its board of directors. The Orr's and the
Scircle's both belonged to the Methodist Church in Scirclesville.
I wonder if that is still there. One of his children, Mathew
Elijah Orr, enlisted in Co. H, 86 Ind. in 1862, was wounded and
captured Dec. 31, 1862, at the Battle of Stones River,
Murphreesboro, TN. He was released in 1863, came home and married
Elizabeth Jane Scircle, of Scirclesvile, Clinton Co. They
eventually moved to a homestead near Cortez, Colorado, and both
are buried there in the Cortez Cemetery.
SCIRCLE - At this time I do not have much about the Scircle's,
YET.

daughters, Mary J. Wright, 1839 and Eliza Wright, 1841. Lilly
died August 18, 1852 and is buried in the Old South Cemetery in
Frankfort. I cannot find Samuel, Mary or Eliza in the 1860
Indinana Census and I have found no index for the 1870 census.
Eliza married "unknown" Lattin in the late 1850's and
their first son Marvin Lattin was born Dec. 1860 in Indiana.
Three other children were born in Indiana before they left the
state and moved west to Missouri. "Unknown" Lattin was
born in Ohio but I have no first name for him. I am seeking
information on the marriage of Eliza and "unknown"
Lattin. Eliza was deaf and dumb. Samuel may have taken his
daughters back to Ohio after Lilly died and they met "Lattin
there but the family definitely was in Indiana sometime in 1860
onward.
